Frequently Asked Questions
Please be sure to read through these FAQs before booking in!
What equipment will
I need for my lesson?
You’ll need a Microsoft Teams account (Previously Skype), a desktop/laptop computer or something similar, a decent internet connection, some headphones, working microphone (this can be on your headphones or your device), a working webcam & a notebook and pen.

I am a complete beginner. Do I need any prior experience?
NO!
I teach students with 0 experience, up to seasoned professionals. Everybody has to start somewhere and I would love to be the person you start your journey with!
What is a typical
session with you like?
Lessons are either practical or theoretical (or sometimes a mix of both).
Theory lessons focus on vocal health and science, or to develop an understanding of a technique to do in the following lesson.

All lessons start with a check in, to make sure you're ok, followed by an outline of what we'll be working on in the lesson. If this is a practical lesson, this is then followed by a physical and vocal warm up, our lesson focus for the day, a vocal cool down and then a recap of the lesson where we discuss What Went Well and how it could be Even Better If...
I then set homework, a weekly task for you to carry out in your own time to develop your learning technique.
I also like to leave plenty of time at the end of the sessions for students to ask any questions or go over anything that we may need to revisit next lesson.
This is to create a cycle of reflective learning which has proven to have very successful results with my students (Kolb's Reflective Cycle of Learning).

I want to have lessons with you but can only afford fortnightly. Is this something you can offer?
YES!
This is subject to availability, so please enquire if you are interested. I also offer swaps/labour exchanges , e.g. 1 hour lesson for 1 hour of tattoo work.

I live local to you, do you offer in person lessons?
I do, however this is reserved for students I've taught for a longer period of time, so I can get to know you as students a bit more. As someone who is neurodiverse, it's important for me to develop a connection and understanding of a person before I meet them in person.

As I also suffer with chronic health issues, so I ask that for any in-person lessons students ensure they are not ill for 48 hours before our lessons, as I can't risk my own health.

Any further info I should know?
Yes.
As I am self-employed, I have a lesson agreement in place between myself & my students.
And of course, we're all human and have good days and bad days, but while I am trained in working with students of all kinds - including those with SEN, please respect that I am not a licensed therapist & do not treat our lessons as such.
I want a goal to work towards. How will you help me accomplish this?
I run a student showcase twice a year where my wonderful students can come along and show off their amazing work!
